His Majesty King Hamad expressed pride in the longstanding relations between Bahrain and the United Kingdom, underscoring a close partnership built over many years of alliance, co-ordination, and constructive co-operation, particularly in the military and defence fields.
This came as His Majesty, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, received John Healey, UK Secretary of State for Defence, during his visit to Bahrain.
They reviewed bilateral relations as well as areas of joint work between the two countries.
His Majesty highlighted the shared commitment to further develop and advance these ties across all levels in support of the common interests of both countries and their peoples.
He noted the UK’s role on the international stage and its contributions to supporting security, stability, and peace in the region and internationally.
The King and Secretary Healey discussed current regional developments and wider international issues, alongside matters of mutual interest.
The UK Defence Secretary expressed gratitude for His Majesty’s role in strengthening the bilateral partnership and advancing military and defence co-operation between the two countries.
His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and Prime Minister, also separately met Mr Healey. He highlighted the longstanding nature of Bahrain-UK relations, underpinned by strategic partnerships and multisectoral collaboration.
He emphasised the shared commitment to further bolstering co-operation, particularly within military and defence, in line with signed agreements, including the Comprehensive Security Integration and Prosperity Agreement (C-SIPA), to the benefit of both nations.
Discussions also addressed regional developments and their implications for international security and stability.
Defence Minister Lieutenant General Abdullah Al Nuaimi and BDF Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Theyab bin Saqr Al Nuaimi were also present.
