Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa chaired the 297th meeting of the Ministerial Committee for Development Projects and Infrastructure.
At the start of the meeting, and in line with the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, regarding government support for repairing homes damaged by recent Iranian attacks, the committee commended the Works Ministry for its co-ordination with relevant entities to assess and document the impact.
The committee also noted the field visit by the Housing and Urban Planning Minister to Hidd Housing City to review repair progress and ensure works are being carried out in accordance with set timelines. The visit included an inspection of temporary alternative housing in Salman City, where fully equipped apartments have been prepared to accommodate affected residents until restoration of their homes in Hidd and Sitra is completed.
In this regard, the committee expressed appreciation for the high level of preparedness demonstrated by the Bahrain Defence Force, the National Guard, the Interior Ministry and other relevant entities in addressing recent developments. It reiterated its condemnation of the continued Iranian attacks targeting infrastructure, facilities and residential areas in the kingdom.
The committee praised the efforts of the Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture Ministry and the Works Ministry in handling rainwater drainage following recent weather conditions.
The Deputy Prime Minister directed that sustainable solutions be developed for unpaved roads to improve mobility and traffic flow during the rainy season.
The committee also acknowledged the contributions of volunteers participating in the “Bahrain is Well Because You Are Its People” campaign, as well as the role of young national talent across infrastructure sectors, marking Bahraini Youth Day.
The meeting reviewed proposals and updates from the Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture Ministry, the Works Ministry, and the Supreme Council for Environment on plans to rehabilitate Tubli Bay.
It also discussed outcomes of a joint workshop on the “Benayat” building permit system and reviewed progress in enhancing infrastructure licensing processes, in addition to updates on a project to manage used cooking oil waste.
The committee approved revisions to guidelines for evaluating properties acquired for public benefit and reviewed related regulatory procedures. It also endorsed a number of municipal projects within the third funding package supported by the Joint Municipal Resources Fund.
The committee reviewed a series of periodic reports, including updates on the national afforestation plan, performance indicators related to building permits, governance procedures for expropriation and compensation, service level performance within the Urban Planning and Development Authority, and progress in completing cadastral transactions at the Survey and Land Registration Bureau.
