Bahrain’s markets are well-stocked with essential food items, with prices remaining broadly stable, according to Industry and Commerce Ministry Consumer Protection director Intisar Abdul Aal.
She said a sufficient strategic reserve is in place to meet demand, reflecting the resilience of the national economy and the kingdom’s readiness to navigate evolving challenges.
In remarks during a National Communication Centre briefing, Ms Abdul Aal attributed this stability to a co-ordinated government approach built on proactive planning and continuous oversight, supported by strong partnerships with the private sector.
These efforts, she noted, help maintain market flexibility and ensure the uninterrupted flow of supply chains under varying conditions.
“Local markets offer a wide range of goods from diverse sources, covering essential and supplementary food items as well as other consumer products, ensuring the needs of citizens and residents are consistently met,” she said.
Ms Abdul Aal also confirmed that inspection teams are operating around the clock to monitor market activity and stock levels, with swift action taken against any violations. She reiterated the ministry’s commitment to protecting consumer rights and preserving market stability, urging the public to report complaints or irregularities via the hotline (17007003).
She further emphasised the importance of responsible consumer behaviour in ensuring the sustainability of supply for all members of society.
