HANDBALL – BARBAR secured their spot in the Golden Square semi-finals of the 2025-26 Khalid Bin Hamad Bahrain Handball League last night after edging past Al Tadhamun 34-32 in a gameweek 21 clash.
The contest was played at the Bahrain Handball Federation Arena in Um Al Hassam Sports Complex, with no fans in attendance.
Barbar trailed by a slim, single-goal margin at the half, 15-16, but got over the hump over the remainder of the match.
With the result, they claimed their 12th win in 19 outings and improved to 43 points to cement their hold of fourth place on the standings – seven ahead of their closest challengers Al Dair, who have a game in hand.
Barbar have just one more fixture remaining, however, in the season’s preliminary round, while Dair have two, giving Barbar the sure spot in the last four. They join the top three of defending champions Al Najma, Al Shabab, and Al Ahli, with their opponents in the next stage to be determined following the completion of the remaining games.
Tadhamun suffered their 10th defeat and went to 35 points.
Round 21 in the league continues tonight and tomorrow. This evening, Shabab face Al Ettifaq at 5.30pm, to be followed at 7.15pm by Najma going up against Tubli. Tomorrow, Ahli go up against Samaheej at 5.30pm, and then Dair battle Al Ettihad at 7.15pm.
