Foreign Minister Dr Abdullatif Al Zayani received a telephone call from Portuguese Minister of Foreign Affairs Paulo Rangel yesterday.
During the call, the Portuguese minister expressed his country’s appreciation for the active role undertaken by Bahrain through its non-permanent membership of the United Nations Security Council, as well as for its constructive efforts and contributions in support of international peace and security and the strengthening of multilateral action.
He also commended Bahrain’s initiative in submitting a draft resolution to the Council on securing maritime navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, noting that it reflects the kingdom’s commitment to playing an active role within the Council in a manner that safeguards the interests of countries worldwide, as well as energy and food security, while reinforcing international efforts to enhance regional security and stability and address current challenges.
The call reviewed the close relations of friendship between the two countries and explored ways to further develop and expand co-operation across various fields, alongside an exchange of views on a number of regional and international issues of mutual interest.
