The audited 2025 financial statement has been unanimously approved by the Shura Council after a clean review by the National Audit Office, which found zero violations and confirmed more than BD600,000 surplus.
Financial and economic affairs committee rapporteur Tariq Al Saffar said the Shura Council’s General Secretariat had demonstrated ‘full compliance with the legal framework and professional standards governing financial reporting’.
“I can state clearly that there were no recorded violations against the Shura Council, and the accounts for 2025 closed with a surplus of more than BD600,000, reflecting efficient financial management and prudent spending policies,” he added.
He noted that effective cost-rationalisation policies had prevented overspending and ensured expenditure remained within approved limits.
“The indicators show a balanced and realistic budgeting methodology based on actual data, reflecting a high level of financial discipline and sound planning,” he added.
The committee praised the efforts of the General Secretariat and its staff, noting that the progress achieved across its departments and the awards received in recent years were directly reflected in the quality of performance and financial governance.
Committee chairman Khalid Al Maskati said the continued referral of the council’s financial statements to the committee at the end of each fiscal year was ‘a step that strengthens transparency and affirms the council’s seriousness in activating oversight tools’.
Shura Council Chairman Ali Saleh Al Saleh thanked members for their support, saying the results reflected the oath taken by members to perform their duties with honesty and integrity.
“What has been achieved today, as testified by the National Audit Office, confirms our commitment to that oath,” he said. “I also extend my sincere thanks to the General Secretariat, especially Secretary-General Karima Al Abbasi, and the entire administrative team whose efforts were instrumental in achieving these honourable financial results.”
He also expressed appreciation to the National Audit Office for its constructive co-operation and guidance, which he said had helped enhance performance and reporting standards.
