BOXING – Bahrain’s boxing national team bagged two medals in the Zayed Sports Tournament held in Abu Dhabi, the UAE.
Ali Amr secured a silver medal in the men’s 75kg category after advancing to the final with victories over Iran’s Sina Soudi in the quarter-finals and Uganda’s Omar Sebagala in the semi-finals.
He then lost to Uzbekistan’s Ismoilov Muhammadazizbek in the title-decider.
Meanwhile, Sami Al Adsani claimed the bronze medal in the 60kg category, defeating Oman’s Mohammed Bakhtari in the quarter-finals before bowing to Kuwait’s Turki Eid in the semi-finals.
Bahrain Boxing Federation president Rashid Feleyfel commended the boxers’ performances, noting that the results reflect ongoing efforts and the continued development of the sport in the kingdom.
