PARALYMPICS – The Bahrain Paralympic Committee (BPC) executive board of directors held its first meeting of 2026, chaired by BPC president Shaikh Mohamed bin Duaij Al Khalifa.
The virtual gathering was attended by board members, and it focused on strategic priorities and plans aimed at advancing sports for ‘those with impairments’ in the kingdom during the next phase.
Shaikh Mohamed praised the significant national role played by the Bahrain Defence Force in protecting the nation’s security and stability.
He highlighted their contribution to developmental and cultural achievements under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Hamad and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
He emphasised that these efforts form the fundamental pillar of progress in Bahrain.
Shaikh Mohamed also expressed pride in the BPC’s ongoing efforts across all areas, commending the spirit of teamwork and the commitment to enhancing the presence of Paralympic sports in regional and international arenas, in a manner befitting the kingdom’s reputation.
Also during the meeting, the board approved the financial and administrative report for 2025, aimed at documenting achievements and ensuring the sustainability of programmes supporting Paralympic sports.
New initiatives to enhance programmes for discovering young talent, and plans to intensify specialised training camps to prepare athletes for upcoming competitions were discussed.
Furthermore, expanding partnerships with both the public and private sectors was tackled with the aim of improving technical and administrative efficiency.
Shaikh Mohamed stressed the importance of unifying efforts with strategic partners to empower ‘those with impairments’, viewing them as an integral part of the national sports achievement system.
