California police have arrested a man for grand theft after he was caught stealing expensive Lego sets and replacing the contents with dried pasta.
Jarrelle Augustine allegedly purchased the building block sets from the supermarket chain Target, removed the pieces, and filled the boxes with pasta before returning them to the store for a full refund.
Investigations revealed that he has been linked to at least 70 similar thefts across Target stores nationwide, resulting in approximately $34,000 in losses for the retail giant.
The Irvine Police Department reported the arrest on social media in a pun-filled post, writing: “If your master plan involves swapping Legos for linguine, we can promise your plan will be cooked al dente.”
