BOWLING – UM Al Hassam were crowned champions of the first-ever Bahrain Bowling Federation (BBF) Super Cup.
Um Al Hassam secured the crown after defeating Riffa 2-1 in a one-off match, held at Funland Centre’s bowling lanes and marking the start of the new BBF season.
The contest was played over three games and Um Al Hassam claimed their triumph 2,328-2,258 on total pinfalls.
They narrowly claimed the opening game by just two pins, 780-778, before Riffa bounced back to take game two with a dominant 827-757 score. But Um Al Hassam regained their composure, closing the series out with a 791-653 victory in the third and decisive game.
Rashed Aldalhan was Um Al Hassam’s top performer, posting an individual total of 684 pins from games of 198, 221, and 265 – coming up big when his team needed him the most in the clincher.
Isa Khalid followed with a 577 (179, 193, 205) total, Ahmed Alansari scored 555 (233, 143, 179), and Ziyad Alawadhi contributed 512 (170, 200, 142) pins.
Meanwhile, for Riffa, veteran bowler Fawaz Abdulla was their leading man with 605 pins. He started his series off strong with games of 212 and 217, but went for just 176 in the third.

Um Al Hassam competed in the BBF’s Super Cup after finishing as runners-up in last season’s BBF Cup, while Riffa were in the match as champions of the Bahrain Bowling League of the same campaign.
The Super Cup was attended by BBF president Saleh Al Bufalah, along with BBF secretary general Issa Taqi and a number of BBF board members.
Launching the Super Cup this season represents a qualitative addition to the BBF’s competition calendar and is an important step towards its diversification, said the BBF in a statement.
