HANDBALL – AL Dair qualified for the final of the President’s Cup last night in the 2025-26 Khalid Bin Hamad Bahrain Handball League.
Dair secured their place after edging past Tubli 37-35 in a tightly contested affair played at the Bahrain Handball Federation Arena in Um Al Hassam Sports Complex.
Dair will now take on the winners of the tournament’s other semi-final encounter between Al Ettihad and Al Tadhamun.
The President’s Cup is the lower-tier trophy in this season’s league, being contested between the teams that finished fifth through eighth during the regular season. Dair were fifth with 42 points, Ettihad sixth on 38, Tadhamun seventh with 36, and Tubli eighth on 35.
The Khalid bin Hamad Bahrain Handball League’s Golden Square semi-finals for the overall title are also still to be played.
They will see defending champions and number one seeds Al Najma take on fourth seeds Barbar, and Al Shabab battle Al Ahli in an exciting match-up between the second and third seeds, respectively.
Both Golden Square head-to-heads will be played in best-of-three format, with the winners moving on to clash in a single-game title-decider.
Najma topped the league’s regular season table with 56 points, just one ahead of Shabab and two in front of Ahli. Barbar claimed fourth place with 46 points.
