Foreign Minister Dr Abdullatif Al Zayani held a telephone call with Portugal’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Paulo Rangel.
They reviewed the close ties of friendship between the two countries and discussed means to further strengthen co-operation across various domains of mutual interest.
They also discussed recent regional developments, including the repercussions of Iran’s closure of the Strait of Hormuz to international navigation, and its impact on the global economy, international trade, and energy and food supplies.
The two ministers explored avenues to enhance co-operation international fora, particularly within the United Nations Security Council during Bahrain’s non-permanent membership for the 2026-2027 term, in addition to issues of common interest.
