Three MPs have issued a formal written apology to His Majesty King Hamad and to the people of Bahrain over remarks made during the previous parliamentary session, while discussing a decree-law amending Article (7) of the Judicial Authority Law.
The apology was signed by first deputy speaker Abdulnabi Salman, services committee chairman Mamdooh Al Saleh and Dr Mahdi Al Shuwaikh.
In their statement, the MPs expressed deep regret to His Majesty, affirming their full loyalty and commitment to the leadership and the nation.
They also apologised to the loyal people of Bahrain for the interventions made during the last session of Parliament when the decree-law was under discussion.
The MPs stressed their unity ‘around the banner of the nation under the leadership of His Majesty’, and affirmed their total loyalty to the country and its leadership. They further condemned Iranian aggression targeting Bahrain’s sovereignty, stability and security, declaring support for all measures taken by the kingdom against those who betrayed the nation, co-operated with the aggression or expressed sympathy for it.
They underlined that ‘the nation is a trust above all’, stating that anyone who betrays the country ‘has no place among us and does not deserve the honour of belonging to it’.
The statement also praised the role of the BDF and the security and civil authorities for their heroic stance in confronting the aggression and protecting citizens and residents.
The MPs confirmed that the apology would be delivered publicly during the next Parliament session on Tuesday.
