An urgent request to revoke the membership of three MPs will be placed before Parliament on Tuesday.
It comes after a formal submission was delivered to Speaker Ahmed Al Musallam by 10 members led by Mohammed Al Ahmed.
The request targets first deputy speaker Abdulnabi Salman, services committee chairman Mamdooh Al Saleh, and services committee member Dr Mahdi Al Shuwaikh.
In a three-page memorandum dated Saturday (May 2), the signatories asked the Speaker to initiate constitutional and procedural steps to consider revoking the MPs’ membership under the Constitution and Parliament’s Internal Regulations.
The issue stems from statements made by the three MPs during the April 28 session while discussing Decree-Law No 13 of 2024, which amended Article 7 of the Judicial Authority Law.
The three MPs later issued a public apology over their position. However, the memorandum argues that an apology is insufficient and that resignation should have followed. It states that there is “no justification” for the MPs to continue representing their constituencies after the “disgraceful position.”
