Bahrain’s media community gathered in celebration at Seef Mall as Bahrain Journalists Association (BJA) marked World Press Freedom Day and Bahraini Press Day.
The event brought together leading journalists, media executives and public figures in a show of appreciation for the profession’s role in national development and public awareness.
Chief guest was Shura Council Chairman Ali Saleh Al Saleh.
In his address, BJA chairman Isa Al Shaiji described the occasion as a national milestone, recognising the contributions of Bahrain’s journalists and media professionals.
“This occasion represents an important national milestone to appreciate the efforts of the journalistic and media community in Bahrain,” he said.
He praised the continued support extended to the media sector by His Majesty King Hamad and the backing of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, which he said had strengthened the position of national media and reinforced its role in serving society.
Mr Al Shaiji noted that Bahraini media had demonstrated a high level of professionalism and national responsibility during recent challenges, particularly in confronting misinformation and rumours.
“Bahraini media has proven its professional maturity and strong national responsibility, successfully countering disinformation campaigns and rumours,” he said.
“Journalism in Bahrain stands on solid professional and national values and continues to fulfil its mission in raising awareness and safeguarding national achievements.”
The ceremony also paid tribute to several prominent media figures and institutions for their contributions to Bahrain’s media landscape.
Those honoured included media adviser to His Majesty Nabeel Al Hamer, media cultural and scientific adviser to His Majesty Hala Al Ansari, and Information Minister Dr Ramzan Al Nuaimi.
Also recognised were media adviser at the Crown Prince’s Court Isa Al Hammadi and National Communication Centre chief executive Ahmed Al Oraifi.
Director of Media and Moral Guidance at the Bahrain Defence Force Major General Mohammed Qatami Al Kubaisi, Director General of Media and Security Culture at the Interior Ministry Major General Mohammed Bin Daina and director general of Bahrain News Agency Abdulla Buhejji were other honourees.
Several officials from the Information Ministry and supporting institutions were also honoured during the ceremony.
The event underscored the importance of a responsible, professional Press in supporting development, strengthening public awareness and reinforcing national unity.
Participants reaffirmed the media’s central role in reflecting Bahrain’s progress and values while continuing to uphold professional standards in an evolving information landscape.
