'The Last Tenant', a film starring the late Irrfan Khan and Vidya Balan, has appeared on YouTube after it was lost nearly 25 years ago.
Directed by Sarthak Dasgupta, the film was shot between 2000 and 2001 before the original footage of the film was lost, which resulted in it being shelved.
However, Dasgupta recently rediscovered a copy of the original footage recorded on VHS, which he then proceeded to use to digitally restore the film.
The film was released on YouTube as a tribute on the 6th anniversary of Irrfan Khan's passing, who passed away in Mumbai after a long bout with cancer on April 29th, 2020.
Khan was well known for appearing in numerous films across Bollywood and Hollywood over a career that spanned over 30 years. Appearing in films like The Lunchbox (2013), Life of Pi (2012) and Jurassic World (2015).
The 43-minute Hindi film has garnered over 200,000 views so far since its release on YouTube.
