US President Donald Trump on Wednesday (May 6) told a reporter, "We're going to get it" when asked if the United States would get enriched uranium from Iran, as the two countries struggle to reach an agreement on ending the Gulf war.
TRUMP: "In the case of Iran, we're not going to let Iran have a nuclear weapon. We're not going to let that happen and we won't let that happen. And so we're dealing with people that want to make a deal very much, and we'll see whether or not they can make a deal that's satisfactory to us. We have it very much under control."
REPORTER: “Hi, Mr. President. Can tell us what you think about the… extracting the uranium from Iran?"
TRUMP: “Yeah, we’re going to get it.”
REPORTER: “How will you get it, sir?”
TRUMP: “We’re going to get it.”
One of Trump's central objectives in launching military strikes against Iran was to ensure Tehran does not develop a nuclear weapon. Iran has yet to hand over more than 900 pounds (408 kg) of highly enriched uranium.
