VOLLEYBALL – HOLDERS Muharraq will be looking to retain their title in the 2025-26 His Royal Highness the Crown Prince’s Cup tonight while opponents Dar Kulaib will be aiming to complete a sensational double to wrap up this national volleyball season.
The final of the prestigious knockout tournament is scheduled to be played at Isa Bin Rashid Volleyball Arena at Isa Sports City in Riffa. It is scheduled for a 7pm start, and it is expected to draw a packed crowd of supporters from both clubs.
Muharraq are hoping to maintain their hold of the trophy, which they won last year also against Dar Kulaib in a decider that went to four sets.
Their opponents, however, will be aiming to secure the title to add to their championship from the 2025-26 Isa Bin Rashid Bahrain Volleyball League, which they clinched last month after finishing ahead of Muharraq on the final standings.
Muharraq secured their place in tonight’s final following a three-set sweep of Al Ahli. They will be relying heavily on the star power of Swedish professional Jacob Link, and their Bahraini talents Naser Anan, Mahmood Alafyah, Majeed Mohammed, Sayed Hashem Issa, Mohammed Jassim, Abbas Alkhabbaz, and Mohammed Omar, among others.
Dar Kulaib, meanwhile, will be spearheaded by Kenyan import Enock Mogeni, who will be ably assisted by top locals Hasan Alwarqaa, Mahmoud Abdulwahed, Ali Habib, Ali Mohammed Abdulnabi, Abbas Abdulla, Hassan Abbas, and Hasan Alaiwi, to name a few.
This year’s His Royal Highness the Crown Prince’s Cup began with all 14 teams that are under the umbrella of the Bahrain Volleyball Association. Dar Kulaib and Muharraq were given automatic berths in the last eight after finishing as the league’s top two teams.
