Foreign Minister Dr Abdullatif Al Zayani has commended the vigilance and professionalism of Bahrain’s security services, in close co-operation with the Public Prosecution, in uncovering the main cell linked to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and the ideology of ‘Wilayat Al Faqih’, and arresting a number of its members in cases involving espionage and sympathy with Iran’s blatant aggression.
He stressed that this achievement reflects Bahrain’s high national readiness to safeguard its sovereignty, security and stability, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad, and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
The minister praised the efforts of the Interior Ministry, led by Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, and its continued success in strengthening national security and pursuing investigations and legal measures against all those proven to be involved in the activities of this extremist terrorist organisation.
He underscored Bahrain’s firm commitment to upholding the rule of law and its zero tolerance for any attempts to undermine national security, unity, or stability, placing the supreme interests of the kingdom and its citizens above all considerations.
Dr Al Zayani renewed Bahrain’s strong condemnation of Iran’s continued interference in its internal affairs and its threats to the security and stability of GCC member states, including hostile acts and the dismantling of espionage and terrorist cells linked to the IRGC and the terrorist Hizbollah.
He described these practices as flagrant violations of international law, the UN Charter, and the principles of good neighbourliness, as well as clear breaches of UN Security Council Resolution 2817, co-sponsored by 136 countries, and the unanimously adopted Human Rights Council resolution supported by 115 countries, among other international resolutions.
He expressed deep appreciation and pride in the professionalism and readiness of the Bahrain Defence Force, in co-ordination with the security services and the armed forces of GCC member states, in confronting unjustified Iranian attacks and defending regional security and stability, alongside diplomatic efforts in international forums.
He also expressed Bahrain’s appreciation for the supportive positions of fraternal and friendly countries, reflecting strong international solidarity in confronting extremism, terrorism and Iranian threats.
Dr Al Zayani called on Iran to fully comply with its obligations under international law and international legitimacy resolutions, and to cease its hostile and provocative actions and interference against Bahrain and the region, including the use of proxies and terrorist militias, targeting maritime navigation, and threatening vital waterways, foremost among them the Strait of Hormuz.
