An attempt was made to allegedly smuggle 168 capsules containing a substance suspected to be narcotics through Bahrain International Airport.
It was foiled by the airport’s Customs Directorate of Customs Affairs, the Interior Ministry has revealed.
It said a customs officer became suspicious of two female travellers, who were referred for body-scanning. Examinations resulted in the discovery of 100 capsules inside one of them and 68 capsules inside the other.
The Anti-Narcotics Directorate has been called in as necessary legal procedures take place.
