His Majesty King Hamad yesterday received Sudan’s Transitional Sovereignty Council Chairman General Abdel Fattah Al Burhan, and the accompanying delegation.
His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and His Majesty’s Personal Representative Shaikh Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa attended the meeting.
The King and General Al Burhan reviewed close relations between the two countries and ways to further enhance co-operation across various domains in support of mutual interests.
He emphasised longstanding ties between Bahrain Sudan, highlighting the mutual commitment to further developing bilateral co-operation for the benefit of both peoples.
The meeting also discussed regional and international developments of common interest. Discussions also covered the latest developments in Sudan and ongoing efforts to reach a permanent ceasefire that fulfils the aspirations of the Sudanese people for peace and stability.
The leaders stressed the importance of preserving Sudan’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity, while ensuring the unhindered delivery of humanitarian and relief assistance to all parts of the country.
His Majesty expressed appreciation for the supportive stance and solidarity shown towards Bahrain by Sudan and General Al Burhan following the Iranian aggression.
General Al Burhan expressed his appreciation to the King for the generous hospitality, reiterating Sudan’s solidarity with Bahrain and its condemnation of the Iranian aggression targeting the kingdom.
He underscored Sudan’s support for all measures undertaken by Bahrain to safeguard its sovereignty, security and stability, while commending Bahrain’s honourable positions towards Sudan and its people.
His Majesty hosted a luncheon in honour of General Al Burhan.
