Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture Minister Wael Al Mubarak met World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) director general Emmanuelle Soubeyran. The meeting was held on the sidelines of the minister’s participation in the 93rd General Session of WOAH in Paris.
The meeting reviewed efforts to strengthen the capacities of member states, support international co-operation in the field of animal health and enhance the exchange of technical expertise. Discussions also addressed global developments related to animal and zoonotic diseases, as well as ways to strengthen preparedness and response mechanisms.
The minister commended the role played by WOAH in supporting member states and advancing veterinary health systems in a manner that reinforces global food security and public health.
He affirmed Bahrain’s commitment to building on achievements made in strengthening the national food security system through the development of veterinary services, the enhancement of prevention and health monitoring systems, and support for international efforts aimed at addressing challenges associated with animal and zoonotic diseases, contributing to the protection of public health and the achievement of food sustainability.
Mr Al Mubarak also held meetings with a number of agriculture ministers from friendly countries as part of efforts to enhance co-operation, develop partnerships and exchange expertise in the fields of agriculture, veterinary services, and food security.
