A new BD10 express processing fee for electronic nationality, passport and residency services has been officially introduced in Bahrain following a decision issued by Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa.
The decision, published in the latest edition of Bahrain’s Official Gazette, amends Item 68 of the fee schedule attached to Decision No 196 of 2014 covering services provided by the General Directorate of Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs.
Under the new amendment, applicants requesting express services electronically or through service centres will be charged BD10 per transaction.
The decision was issued after approval by the Cabinet and based on a proposal submitted by the Under-Secretary for Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs.
Article One of the decision replaces the previous wording of Item 68 with a revised fee structure specifying that the express service charge will apply individually to each transaction processed through the fast-track system.
Article Two states that the Under-Secretary for Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs will be responsible for implementing the provisions of the decision, which comes into effect from the day following its publication in the Official Gazette.
The amendment forms part of ongoing efforts to regulate and streamline electronic government services linked to passports, residency permits and nationality-related transactions in Bahrain.
