The Capital Secretariat Council, along with the heads of municipal councils in Muharraq and the Northern and Southern Governorates, has issued new regulations governing operations in public markets – both central and community markets.
The measures include stricter penalties for violators, extending to licence revocation and prohibition from conducting business activities.
According to the regulations, published in the Official Gazette, no commercial or craft activity may be carried out in the markets without obtaining an official licence and securing an allocated site.
