Institutional assessment expert Ibrahim Al Tamimi has called for the development of an integrated Gulf-wide ‘Influence Matrix’ to safeguard public awareness and strengthen national identity in the face of growing intellectual and media challenges.
He stressed that the battles of the future will not be fought solely on military or economic fronts, but will increasingly be “battles of awareness, influence, and public opinion formation.”
In an interview with our sister paper Akhbar Al Khaleej, Mr Al Tamimi said that the true protection of Gulf societies cannot be achieved through security measures alone.
Rather, it requires building a deeply rooted public awareness supported by the active involvement of media, cultural, educational, and youth institutions.
He noted that sources of influence are no longer limited to traditional media outlets, but now extend to digital platforms, podcasts, social media networks, and short-form content creation.
He explained that Gulf countries need an ‘Influence Matrix’ that studies the nature of Gulf societies and identifies effective ways to engage young people through their language and modern communication tools.
