MOTORSPORT – Bahraini-British motor racing team 2 Seas Motorsport came just shy of securing a podium in class yesterday at the end of a gruelling 24 Hours of Spa – the fourth round of the 2026 GT World Challenge (GTWC) Europe held at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium.
2 Seas’ two cars competing in the Bronze category both made it into their fleet’s top 10.
The number 222 Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo, driven by the quartet of Charles Dawson, Kiern Jewiss, Reece Barr, and Garnet Patterson, took fifth place amongst Bronze competitors while placing 27th overall in the massive 70-car field, with 532 laps completed after a full day and night’s racing.
2 Seas’ other Bronze class entrant, the number 33 Mercedes-AMG driven by Scott Noble, Lewis Williamson, Jason Hart, and Aaron Walker, finished eighth in their category and were 44th overall with 453 laps.
Winning the Bronze class with 540 laps were Kessel Racing’s Dustin Blattner, Mathys Jaubert, Dennis Marschall, and Ben Tuck in their number 74 Ferrari 296 GT3 Evo.
Meanwhile, 2 Seas had a third car in the race, the number 3 Mercedes-AMG driven by Daniel Juncadella, Chris Lulham, and Jules Gounon.
2 Seas operate the contender in cooperation with Team Verstappen Racing, owned by four-time Formula One world champion Max Verstappen.
Despite qualifying on row two overall and third in the Pro category, the number 3 crew had to retire with 373 laps registered due to a loss of power.
The team stated: “A component was damaged in an incident during the night, compromising the engine’s supply system and ultimately causing it to overheat.”
The 2026 GTWC Europe calendar features 10 rounds – five events each in endurance and sprint.
The 24 Hours of Spa marked the third of the endurance meetings, with the first two already held in France and Italy, and the other two to follow in Germany this August and in Portugal in October.
A sprint weekend has already taken place in the UK, with others to follow in Italy next month, in France in July and August, in the Netherlands in September, and in Spain in October.
