IRAN bears full responsibility for undermining global peace efforts by its continued aggression that seeks to export terror and threaten regional stability, says a letter sent by Bahrain to the United Nations Security Council.
The letter has been sent by Bahrain’s permanent mission to the UN in New York following the latest targeting of the kingdom’s territory by a number of Iranian drones, in the early hours of Saturday.
It condemned the attack as a flagrant violation of the kingdom’s sovereignty, a blatant threat to the security of citizens and residents and a breach of international norms and conventions that prohibit targeting civilian objects and terrorising innocent people.
Iran’s treacherous aggression reveals its contempt for the international community and the commitments it has made, the letter stressed.
The Iranian regime’s continued aggression reveals an approach based on destabilising security, exporting chaos and undermining regional stability, especially after it pledged a permanent cessation of military operations and respect for the sovereignty of the region’s countries.
The letter also stressed that Tehran’s continued aggression represents a direct challenge to the international will embodied in Security Council Resolution 2817 (2026), which was submitted by the kingdom on behalf of the GCC countries and Jordan.
The resolution, supported by 136 UN member states, expressed an international consensus rejecting this aggressive behaviour, while emphasising that peace is not built by intimidation, and that security is not taken away by aggression.
The letter stressed that the kingdom’s resolve is stronger than any threat, and that its national unity is impervious to those who wish to dissuade the nation from its determination.
The letter concluded with a call for the Security Council to assume its responsibilities and hold the aggressor accountable.
