WhatsApp is rolling out a new username feature, allowing users to connect without sharing their phone numbers. Starting June 29, users can reserve a unique username through Settings > Account > Username before the feature launches more widely later this year.
Unlike traditional social media platforms, WhatsApp usernames will not be searchable; people will need to know your exact username to contact you. The feature is designed to improve privacy, especially when chatting with new people or joining group conversations, while keeping the app focused on secure messaging rather than social networking.
