Youth City 2030’s sports programme will have great benefits for the kingdom and its youth, General Sports Authority (GSA) CEO Dr Abdulrahman Askar has highlighted.
Dr Askar said that the GSA’s partnership with the Youth Affairs Ministry in implementing sports programmes and activities at Youth City 2030 reflects the directives of Supreme Council for Youth and Sports first deputy chairman, GSA chairman, and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
He said the partnership aims to enhance integration among national institutions, promote sport as a foundation for youth development, empower young people, nurture their talents, and support Bahrain’s vision of investing in national capabilities and building a more creative and distinguished generation.
Dr Askar expressed the GSA’s pride in partnering with the Youth Affairs Ministry, the Labour Fund (Tamkeen) as strategic partner, Tarteeb Events and Marketing, Winners Football Club, and Exhibition World Bahrain to implement the project, which represents the enhanced version of the sports centre within the Youth City 2030 programme.
He said that the project will help identify talent, develop capabilities, promote sports culture, encourage healthy lifestyles, support youth empowerment goals, and enhance participation in sports and community activities.
Dr Askar noted that the GSA will provide technical supervision for all sports programmes and activities within the project, in addition to delivering technical, organisational, and media support.
He added that the diversity of sports programmes and activities, designed to meet the interests of different ages of youth, will encourage participants to adopt healthy lifestyles through sport, introduce them to a wide range of sporting disciplines, and provide a platform to identify promising athletes and connect them with development and qualification programmes implemented by the GSA in co-operation with national sports federations and clubs.
