MOTORSPORT – BAHRAINI-British motor racing team 2 Seas Motorsport topped the timesheet yesterday in the first free practice session of round six in the 2026 GT World Challenge (GTWC) Europe, taking place at Magny-Cours in France.
2 Seas’ Dani Juncadella and Jules Gounon in their number three Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo car – which 2 Seas operate in collaboration with Team Verstappen Racing, owned by four-time Formula One world champion Max Verstappen – set the pace in the 40-minute practice with a best lap time of one minute 37.190 seconds. They completed 20 laps in the session.
2 Seas’ other car, the number 222 driven by the tandem of Charles Dawson and Kiern Jewiss, finished 21st overall and were fifth amongst Bronze class runners.
They had a fastest lap of 1:38.272 while putting in 31 laps of work.
Both 2 Seas cars are back in action today for the round’s first of two one-hour sprint races, which is scheduled to flag off at 10.05pm, Bahrain time. Its qualifying session will be held earlier in the day to determine the grid.
Race two follows tomorrow, starting at 4.30pm, also Bahrain time, with a second qualifying being held hours prior to set the competitors’ starting positions.
2 Seas are competing this weekend in Magny-Cours having secured a sensational double podium in the previous round in Misano, Italy – also a sprint weekend. Juncadella and Gounon finished second overall and just missed out on the outright victory while Dawson and Jewiss took third in class while going 31st overall.
2 Seas, co-owned by Bahrain’s Shaikh Isa bin Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa, are competing with their two-car entry for the full 2026 calendar of the GTWC Europe, which features both sprint and endurance meetings.
