JIU-JITSU – Bahrain won a gold and a silver medal in the masters competitions of the 2026 World Championships Ju-Jitsu in Abu Dhabi, the UAE.
The event is being held under the Ju-Jitsu International Federation banner, and the kingdom’s delegation features athletes in masters, youth, and adults categories.
Bader Al Doseri captured the kingdom’s gold medal in the men’s master two jiu-jitsu under-77kg weight class, while teammate Dr Ahmed Al Aradi came away with the silver in the men’s master three jiu-jitsu over-94kg.
Joining Al Doseri on the podium was silver-medallist Samat Kunayev from Kazakhstan; while finishing ahead of Dr Al Aradi in his group was Jeyhun Gulizada of Azerbaijan.
William Dufty from Australia came away with bronze.
Bahrain’s two-medal haul also placed them sixth in the competition’s overall masters’ ranking, behind only Kazakhstan, Brazil, Singapore, Azerbaijan, and Romania – while also being the top-ranked Arab nation.
With their two medals, Bahrain Combat Sports Council (BCSC) member and Bahrain Jiu-Jitsu Federation president Redha Monfaredi expressed his great pride in their achievements.
He stressed that their haul and Bahrain’s placing in first amongst Arab national teams and sixth overall reflects the unlimited support that Bahraini sports enjoy from the wise leadership, particularly the continuous attention of Supreme Council for Youth and Sports first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority (GSA) chairman, and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and the follow-up and support of GSA deputy chairman and BCSC president Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, in developing combat sports in Bahrain.
The worlds continue over the coming week with the youth and adults events.
Bahrain’s youth competitors include Rashed Alasfoor in the men’s under-18 jiu-jitsu under-52kg class and Hamad Mohseni in the men’s under-21 jiu-jitsu under-56kg division.
In the adults events, flying the kingdom’s flag are Hasan Albaqar in the men’s jiu-jitsu under-69kg division, Abdulla Ali in the men’s jiu-jitsu under-56kg, and Khalid Faraj in the men’s jiu-jitsu under-94kg weight class.
