National Bank of Kuwait-Bahrain (NBK-Bahrain) reported a net profit of BD60.49 million ($160.45m) for the first half of 2026, compared to BD59.74m ($158.45m) recorded in the corresponding period of 2025.
As of the end of June 2026, NBK-Bahrain’s total assets stood at BD8.53 billion ($22.63bn) compared with BD8.48bn ($22.50bn) in the corresponding period of last year.
Total shareholders’ equity increased by 10 per cent y-o-y to BD1.54bn ($4.10bn), while customer deposits increased by 49pc to BD3.93bn ($10.42bn) at the end of June 2026.
Commenting on NBK-Bahrain’s 1H2026 financial results, NBK vice-chairman and group chief executive Isam Al Sager said, “NBK-Bahrain achieved solid profits in the first half of 2026, reflecting the resilience of our business model and the strength of our financial position, despite heightened regional and global geopolitical tensions and their economic repercussions during the period.”
Mr Al Sager affirmed that the group’s strategic investments in recent years in key areas supporting growth, together with its focus on maintaining digital leadership and delivering the latest banking solutions across all business segments, as well as the performance of its international operations, played a significant role in supporting the group’s profits and mitigating risks.
He noted that NBK Group enjoys a unique advantage through the broad geographic reach of its operations, which strengthens the integration of its service offering.
This diversification adds considerable resilience to the Group’s earnings and provides its businesses with a strong competitive advantage.
Mr Al Sager explained that NBK-Bahrain continues to strengthen its position in the Bahraini market, which represents one of NBK Group’s key growth markets, given the promising opportunities it offers and its positive long-term outlook.
Meanwhile, NBK-Bahrain chief executive officer Ali Fardan said: “NBK-Bahrain’s results in H12026 demonstrate our continued focus on growing our business and reinforcing our leading position in the Bahraini market, despite the challenges witnessed in recent months.”
Mr Fardan highlighted the bank’s success in delivering services and products that have effectively addressed customers’ needs and enriched their banking experience.
He further affirmed that Bahrain represents one of the NBK Group’s key strategic markets, noting that efforts will continue to broaden the range of banking services and solutions offered to individuals and corporates. This will strengthen NBK-Bahrain’s market presence and support sustainable growth opportunities over the coming period.
Furthermore, he underscored the strength of the bank’s professional team, whose extensive experience and diverse capabilities support its operations and ensure the quality of the full range of services provided to customers, while enabling the bank to pursue further growth over the coming financial periods.
Mr Fardan praised the Central Bank of Bahrain’s efforts, in particular, and all government agencies, in general, for their continued support extended to NBK-Bahrain and the Bahraini banking sector.
He also highlighted that the great support extended by NBK Group has contributed to strengthening the bank’s performance in Bahrain, through capitalising on NBK’s high credit ratings, broad relationship network, and leading reputation as one of the top banks in the Middle East, and one of the safest banks in the world.
