Foreign Minister Dr Abdullatif Al Zayani met Yemen’s Foreign and Expatriate Affairs Minister Dr Afrah Al Zouba, during her visit to Bahrain.
Dr Al Zayani congratulated Dr Al Zouba on assuming her post as minister. He wished her success in leading Yemeni diplomacy during this pivotal period in Yemen’s history, affirming Bahrain’s support for the Yemeni government in its efforts to achieve security and stability and fulfil the aspirations of the Yemeni people for development and prosperity.
Dr Al Zouba commended the historical ties between the two countries and their peoples throughout history, as well as the continued development and growth of these ties at all levels.
She emphasised the two countries’ commitment to further strengthening co-operation that serves their common interests and benefits both countries.
The Yemeni minister also expressed her government’s appreciation for Bahrain’s supportive position towards its efforts to reach a peaceful settlement to achieve peace, security and stability in Yemen and preserve freedom of navigation in the Bab Al Mandab Strait.
The meeting discussed bilateral co-operation between the two countries and means to enhance it across various areas of mutual interest, including expanding economic, trade and development co-operation to serve common interests.
The two sides also discussed the latest regional developments and the repercussions of developments related to the freedom and safety of maritime navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and the Bab Al Mandab Strait on international trade, energy and food supplies, and the global economy.
They also discussed political and security developments in Yemen, along with efforts undertaken within the framework of the United Nations to reach a political solution for peace in Yemen, in accordance with internationally recognised terms of reference, and deliver humanitarian aid to the Yemeni people.
Other issues of common interest at the regional and international levels were also addressed.
Dr Al Zouba then visited the Al Madar Centre at the ministry, where she was briefed on its functions and role in monitoring regional and international news and events, preparing analytical reports, and conducting political analysis of regional and international events and positions in support of the objectives of Bahraini diplomacy at the regional and international levels.
