Kuwaiti Minister of Social Affairs, Family and Childhood Affairs Dr Amthal Al-HuwaIla said she has referred cases of misappropriation of public funds at the Public Authority for Disability Affairs to the Public Prosecution for legal action against several officials and employees.
In a statement to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on Saturday, she said that this is the second referral in a week, which comes within the framework of the protection of public funds.
She added that the committee discovered that funds had been disbursed for quantities and work that were not fully implemented onsite, noting that the estimated value of the damage under investigation is approximately KWD 1.211 million (USD 3.95 million).
Minister Al-Huwaila stressed that protecting public funds is a non-negotiable responsibility, affirming that all violations with suspected criminal intent would follow the legal course
