The 35th Bahrain International Music Festival continues this weekend, bringing together local and international musical talents for unforgettable performances.
An Oud Night was held on Thursday evening, bringing together Bahraini artist Mohammed Al Bakri and Chinese oud player Dr Joo Zhao for a special performance at the Cultural Hall.
The event was organised by the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (Baca), in collaboration with the Chinese Embassy.
“The evening reflected the growing cultural ties between Bahrain and China, supported by continued co-operation in the cultural and artistic fields that promotes creative exchange and mutual understanding,” Baca added, in a statement.
The concert celebrated the distinctive sound of the Oud and brought together the musical traditions of both countries.
Mr Al Bakri is prominent in Bahrain’s music scene, with a career spanning decades. He learned to play the oud when he was a child and has participated in cultural events around the world.
Dr Zhao, who performed pieces highlighting ties between Chinese and Arab music, is a researcher and musician specialising in the music of West Asia and North Africa.
More than 20 top-notch musical acts are being organised as part of the music festival.
The two-month-long festival running throughout October and November is bringing together musicians and bands from the GCC, Europe and Asia.
Tonight, the Shabab Al Hidd band will be performing at Dar Al Muharraq, with doors opening at 7pm and the show starting at 8pm.
