Alba, the world’s largest single-site aluminium smelter, has bolstered its executive team with three key leadership appointments.
Layla Al Qassab steps into the role of director of finance, effective tomorrow, bringing more than two decades of expertise in finance and strategy. She previously served as chief financial officer at Benefit, following senior roles at BNP Paribas Middle East and PwC.
A Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, she holds a first-class honours degree in accounting from Cardiff University and is an alumna of the Oxford Senior Leadership Executive Programme.

Ms Al Qassab
Taimur Tufail joined as manager-legal on August 23, leveraging more than a decade of regional legal advisory experience in corporate transactions and regulatory matters.
Prior to Alba, he was with top law firm Al Tamimi and Company. Qualified as a barrister in England and Wales, he was named a ‘Rising Star for Corporate and M&A in Bahrain’ by IFLR1000 in 2025.

Mr Tufail
Aysha Salem takes over as manager of organisation development and HR analytics, effective September 6.
She brings 10 years of talent management experience, moving from her previous role as senior workforce planning specialist at Bapco Energies.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in HR management from the University of Chichester, alongside CIPD Level 7 and Level 5 diplomas.
