MOTORSPORT – Bahraini karting star Tariq Soofi delivered a standout performance for his Italian team Lenovo Kalì Kart at the first round of the WSK Final Cup 2026, held at Franciacorta Circuit in Italy over the weekend.
Eleven-year-old Tariq staged one of the most impressive comebacks in the fiercely competitive Mini GR3 class.
Despite a challenging qualifying session that saw him start from 40th, Tariq demonstrated tremendous courage and determination throughout the heats.
He kicked off his recovery by gaining four positions in the first heat, and then added another four in the second.
He then capped off his runs with an extraordinary 10-place charge in heat three to cross the finish line in 10th amongst 26 competitors.
His impressive streak allowed Tariq to gain a total of 18 positions across all three heats, propelling him to 26th in the overall heat standings.
Session after session, the young driver showcased building speed and rising competitiveness within a stacked international grid featuring top worldwide talents.
The weekend highlighted Tariq’s resilient fighting spirit, composure under pressure, and ability to turn a difficult qualifying into a strong, positive outcome – confirming his continued technical growth and readiness to contend at the top in upcoming races.
