The United Nations in Bahrain yesterday released its 2025 Country Results Report, highlighting the achievements of the first year of implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Co-operation Framework (UNSDCF) 2025-2029 and showcasing the results of the partnership between the United Nations and Bahrain in advancing sustainable development.
The report was handed over to the government at a UNSDCF Joint Steering Committee meeting, held at the Foreign Ministry.
The report outlines progress across the four strategic priorities of the Cooperation Framework: People, Prosperity, Peace, and Planet.
In 2025, joint efforts focused on enhancing health, social equity, and well-being; promoting sustainable economic transformation; strengthening governance and human rights institutions; advancing gender equality and youth engagement; and supporting environmental sustainability and climate resilience, in line with Bahrain’s Vision 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals.
“The United Nations is proud to partner with Bahrain in implementing the SDG Agenda. In 2025, our partnership delivered results. Together with the Government of Bahrain and our partners across society, we strengthened social inclusion, supported economic transformation, advanced environmental stewardship, and deepened the partnerships that are essential to sustainable development,” United Nations Resident
Co-ordinator in Bahrain Khaled El Mekwad said.
As the first year of the new Co-operation Framework cycle, 2025 was marked by the establishment of new co-ordination mechanisms, including Joint Results Groups that bring together government counterparts and United Nations entities to strengthen national ownership, oversight, and implementation of shared development priorities.
The year also coincided with the commemoration of the United Nations’ 80th anniversary, celebrated in Bahrain through a series of activities engaging government institutions, civil society, young people, and the wider public.
The report also acknowledges the increasingly complex regional environment and underscores the importance of international co-operation and partnership in addressing development challenges.
“The United Nations remains fully committed to the people of Bahrain. The United Nations Country Team in Bahrain will continue working alongside partners to help build the inclusive and prosperous future that Bahrain’s people deserve,” Mr El Mekwad said.
