A number of violations were detected during a joint inspection campaign conducted by the Coastguard as part of ongoing efforts to maintain maritime safety, curb violations and enforce compliance.
The campaign targeted several coastal areas in Muharraq Governorate and was carried out in co-ordination with the Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs, Muharraq Governorate Police Directorate, the Supreme Council for Environment’s General Directorate of Marine Resources and the Labour Market Regulatory Authority.
It aimed to ensure the availability of maritime safety equipment, the installation of boat registration plates and side numbers, and the validity of navigation licences and boat ownership documents.
Inspectors also verified that Automatic Identification Systems were installed and operational, identified unlicensed expatriate workers, and checked compliance with laws and regulation s governing fishing activities.
Legal measures were taken against violators. Authorities reaffirmed that such inspection campaigns will continue to safeguard maritime safety and protect Bahrain’s marine resources.
