FOOTBALL – Bahrain's senior men’s football national team stepped up their local training programme last night with only days to go for the 27th Gulf Cup in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
The kingdom’s squad practised at the Bahrain Football Association (BFA) pitches in Riffa under the supervision of head coach Dragan Talajic, who focused on technical and tactical aspects.
Talajic’s call-ups from Bahrain champions Muharraq joined the session after returning to the kingdom from AFC Champions League Two duty overseas.
BFA vice-president Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali bin Isa Al Khalifa attended the session.
The Bahrainis also entered a camp yesterday at the Diplomat Radisson Blu Hotel, Residence and Spa.
They are scheduled to depart for Jeddah tomorrow for this year’s Gulf Cup, dubbed ‘Khaleeji 27’.
It is scheduled to kick off on Wednesday and continue until October 6, with Bahrain carrying the tag of defending champions.
