The number of operating and licensed hospitals and health units in the government and private sectors increased by 32.6 per cent over the past decade, reaching 61 facilities in 2025, compared with 46 in 2015, according to the latest official statistics from the National Health Regulatory Authority (NHRA), published on the Bahrain Open Data Portal.
The health facilities in 2025 comprised 27 government health centres, 24 private hospitals and 10 government hospitals.
Separate statistics showed that the total number of available beds at health facilities in the government and private sectors stood at 3,338 at the end of last year, including 2,509 beds in the government sector and 829 in the private sector.
The total number of licensed private-sector pharmacies last year reached 425, according to data published by NHRA.
