MOTORSPORT – Marco Manson of Pinnacle Motorsport and Juste Mulder from Evans GP were quickest yesterday in the two practice sessions of Formula Trophy Malaysia (FTM), being held as part of the support race programme in the Formula One Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia 2026 at Sepang international Circuit (SIC).
Manson topped the timesheet in the opening practice with a fastest lap of two minutes 12.219 seconds.
David Cosma-Cristofor of Evans GP was second-quickest 0.208 seconds behind, while Sicong Chen of Black Blade Racing ranked third 0.537s back.
Mulder was then quickest in the second session yesterday. He had a best mark of 2:11.678.
Manson followed 0.105s back while Inigo Anton of Axle Sports was classified third 0.157s adrift.
FTM returns to action today with qualifying at 10.30am local time and 5.30am Bahrain time.
It will be followed by the weekend’s first of two 27-lap races, to be held at 2.15pm local time and 9.15am Bahrain time.
Race two is then scheduled for Sunday at 11.45am local time and 6.45am Bahrain time.
FTM is one of South East Asia’s premier single-seater championships for junior drivers.
Formerly known as the Formula 4 South East Asia Championship, it was rebranded ahead of this 2026 season.
This weekend’s action is the series’ first of three rounds this campaign.
FTM continues in the footsteps of Formula Trophy UAE, organised as an end-of-season series for Formula Four cars and aimed at drivers preparing to take their first steps into international F4 competition.
The field in round one is largely composed of F4 newcomers, hailing from as far afield as Europe and Scandinavia as well as across Australasia and Asia.
FTM will be holding all three of its meetings this season at the 5.543-kilometre Hermann Tilke-designed SIC.
Round two is slated for November 6 to 8 alongside the 2026 China GT Championship, while the third and final meeting will take place December 12 to 14 as part of the support programme for the Sepang 12 Hours.
