The outstanding success of the 22nd edition of the 2026 Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix held in Malaysia embodies His Majesty King Hamad’s vision and aspirations through which the kingdom continues to consolidate its leading position in the world of Formula 1, it has been declared.
His Majesty King Hamad yesterday sent a cable of congratulations to His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, on the outstanding success of the Bahrain Grand Prix.
His Majesty commended HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister’s tireless efforts, support and follow-up of the Bahrain Grand Prix, which have contributed to the race’s success and to Bahrain’s achievements in Formula 1, further strengthening Bahrain’s international standing and reputation, particularly within regional and international sporting circles.
His Majesty also thanked HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister for the achievements he continues to accomplish for the kingdom across all fields.
The King wished HRH Prince Salman continued success and further national achievements.
His Majesty also thanked Sultan Ibrahim ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar, Yang di-Pertuan Agong and the people of Malaysia for the support and arrangements provided for the race, which reflected the strength of the historical and close bilateral ties.
He also welcomed the attendance of Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei, as guest of honour, and his praise of the race’s success and distinguished organisation.
His Majesty commended the sincere efforts of the Bahrain International Circuit and the Bahraini teams involved in the organisation of the race, and their outstanding efforts in delivering a successful race which drew large crowds from around the world. His Majesty wished everyone continued success.
His Majesty expressed his appreciation to the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), the participating teams and the sponsors, congratulating the winners and commending their performance. He also wished the remaining teams better luck in the upcoming races.
The success of this year’s race adds to Bahrain’s record of achievements in international sport, the King said, underlining the dedication and capabilities of Bahrainis in organising and hosting major sporting events to the highest international standards.
His Majesty received a cable from HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister in response, thanking him for his congratulations.
HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister expressed immense pride and gratitude for His Majesty’s congratulatory cable on the success of the event, which was held with the blessings of the King and Sultan Ibrahim of Malaysia.
He highlighted that His Majesty’s continued support for Bahrain’s development and his vision for its future remain a driving force behind efforts to achieve further progress and strengthen the kingdom’s position across all sectors.
Bahrain’s continued success in organising the Bahrain Grand Prix, culminating in the successful 22nd edition in Malaysia, reflects the progress achieved under His Majesty’s vision and support, which has enabled Bahrain to build a strong track record in organising major international sporting events, he said.
HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister added that Bahrain’s achievements over more than two decades in hosting and organising the event reflect the determination, competence and dedication of Team Bahrain and its commitment to advancing the kingdom’s progress and prosperity.
His Majesty and HRH Prince Salman were also congratulated by senior Royal Family members, government ministries and other dignitaries.
