The Kerala Catholic Association (KCA) is set to host the Grandmaster India Quiz on Friday, bringing together enthusiasts for a major knowledge competition centred on India.
Participants will be tested on a wide range of topics covering India’s history, geography, governance, culture, science, sports and contemporary developments, with a small section of questions related to Bahrain.
The event is designed to encourage intellectual engagement and provide a competitive platform for participants from across Bahrain’s Indian community.
Each team will consist of three members, with participants required to be above 13 years of age.
The competition will begin with a written preliminary round comprising 30 questions, from which the top six teams will qualify for the grand finale to be held in December.
A major attraction of the contest will be the presence of renowned quiz master Dr Raju Narayanaswamy, who is principal secretary to the Kerala government.
Dr Narayanaswamy has hosted and curated quizzes in India and internationally and is particularly known for his ability to go beyond questions and connect knowledge with its wider historical and contemporary context.
He will be joined by quiz master Aruldas Thomas, who is a known community member in Bahrain and quizzing circles.
The first prize is $500, the second $300 and the third prize will be $200.
Online registrations for the quiz are currently open and will close on Thursday.
The registration fee is BD10 per team of three members.
The programme will commence at 10am at the Mukta A2 Cinema, Juffair Mall.
