Mina Abdullah police have arrested an Asian expatriate after uncovering 48 bottles of locally produced alcohol buried in the open desert.
Patrol officers spotted the suspect acting suspiciously before he discarded his belongings and fled on foot.
Officers pursued and detained the suspect following a brief chase.
During interrogation, the man admitted to using the desert as a hidden stash site to dig up and sell liquor to buyers.
Police seized cash believed to be sales proceeds before recovering the buried bottles from the location.
The suspect and confiscated evidence have been referred to the relevant legal authorities.
