The world’s oldest man, João Marinho Neto of Brazil, celebrated his 114th birthday by exchanging greetings with Australia’s Ken Weeks, the second-oldest man, who turned 113 on the exact same day.
Born on 5 October 1912, Neto worked in agriculture from the age of four, raised seven children, and now boasts a family legacy spanning five generations to great-great-grandchildren.
Recognised as the world's oldest man since late 2024, he ranks as the ninth-oldest man in history and the tenth-oldest living person globally.
Neto, Weeks, and Japan’s Hikaru Katō are the last three surviving men born before the outbreak of World War I.
Neto attributes his remarkable longevity to keeping good people and loved ones close throughout his life.
