A one-stop travel system between Bahrain and Saudi Arabia has reached an advanced stage of implementation, with plans to further ease passenger crossings via the King Fahad Causeway.
The development was highlighted during a meeting of the Security Committee of the Saudi-Bahraini Co-ordination Council, held yesterday via video conference and co-chaired by Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa and Saudi Interior Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif Al Saud.
The ‘One Stop’ project will enable passengers to complete all travel procedures at a single point, eliminating the need for repeated inspections.
It is expected to significantly reduce waiting times and streamline border crossings, improving the travel experience and boosting tourism. Bahrain and Saudi Arabia have agreed to launch the second phase of the project and work towards completing the third phase to further streamline travel procedures.
The GDN had previously reported that the initiative is part of a major GCC travel plan designed to introduce seamless connections between member states.
Bahrain and the UAE were selected to try the first phase of the project, which was launched on February 16 this year.
