Relations between Bahrain and Pakistan are deep-rooted and steadily developing thanks to mutual keenness to further advance them across various fields, Foreign Minister Dr Abdullatif Al Zayani and Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar have affirmed.

They praised growing bilateral co-operation since the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries fifty-five years ago, commending the leaderships’ keenness to further strengthen them.
The ministers were speaking during the third meeting of Bahrain-Pakistan Joint Ministerial Committee, which convened yesterday at the Pakistani Foreign Ministry in Islamabad under their chairmanship.
Dr Al Zayani conveyed the greetings of His Majesty King Hamad and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and their best wishes for continued security, prosperity and success for Pakistan and its people.
He said bilateral ties have gained significant momentum over the past year through the official visits to Bahrain of Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif in November 2025 and President Asif Ali Zardari in January 2026.
Dr Al Zayani praised the meeting, saying that it comes at a crucial time to support the efforts to boost regional peace, security and stability.
He condemned the continued blatant attacks of the terrorist Houthi militia on Saudi Arabia, stressing that the kingdom’s security is an integral part of the security of Bahrain and the GCC countries.
He valued Pakistan’s constructive role, under the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, to solve regional issues and support the de-escalation efforts.
The Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister welcomed Dr Al Zayani and his delegation, commending the roadmap adopted to enhance joint co-operation.
The two sides discussed ways of strengthening bilateral co-operation and regional and international issues of common concern, including freedom of maritime navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and Bab Al Mandab.
The two ministers held a Press conference on the sidelines of the meeting.
They praised the depth of longstanding fraternal bonds between both countries and growing cooperation in various fields.
They also reiterated shared commitment to ensure freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz and Bab Al Mandab to safeguard energy security, food supply chains and international trade.
They also emphasised commitment to further enhancing economic relations, including completing the Free Trade Agreement between the GCC and Pakistan.
They said progress in this regard would be reviewed at the committee’s fourth session, scheduled to be held in Bahrain in 2027.
