BASKETBALL – Bahrain representatives Seef suffered an early exit yesterday from the Go Too! Group Aichi 2026 in Japan.
The 3x3 basketball tournament is a Challenger event on this year’s Fiba 3x3 World Tour, and it acts as a qualifier for the Manama Masters – a top-tier meeting on the International Basketball Federation’s (Fiba) premier street basketball series.
Seef won both their games in their qualifying draw to book their place in the competition proper, but then lost their two contests to miss out on a berth in the knockouts.
Seef took to the half court with the quartet of Bogdan Dragovic, Austin Ajukwa, Uros Ilic, and Mohammed Alanzi.
They got their campaign underway with a resounding 21-11 win over Nagoya of Japan in qualification draw B, which they followed up with a 22-19 triumph over Melbourne of Australia.
Those results earned them their place in Pool D of the preliminary round.
There, they lost 13-21 to Shanghai from China and then narrowly fell to Toronto from Canada 13-14.
Those results dropped them to the bottom of their group table as Shanghai and Toronto marched through to the elite eight.
Also advancing were Shibuya of Japan and Liman of Serbia from Pool A, Skyliners of Germany and Crvena Zvezda of Serbia from Pool B, and Cibona Ph.Classic of Croatia and Raudondvaris Hoptrans of Lithuania from Pool C.
The quarter-finals will be played today along with the semis and final.
The Manama Masters is scheduled to take place on November 20 and 21 as the kingdom’s stop on this year’s Fiba 3x3 World Tour calendar, in which Bahrain is featuring for the fourth year in a row.
It will be the third staging of the Manama Masters, with previous editions being held in 2023 and 2024.
Bahrain hosted the Fiba 3x3 World Tour Final last year.
