GOLF – Ebrahim K Kanoo, the exclusive agent for Lexus in Bahrain, continues its support for golf by sponsoring the eighth edition of the Bahrain Amateur Open for the second year in a row, the Bahrain Golf Association (BGA) announced yesterday.
The event is organised by the BGA and it will be held at the Royal Golf Club from Wednesday to Saturday next week.
The sponsorship confirms EK Kanoo’s interest in supporting sports activities in the kingdom and contributing to the success of international events hosted by Bahrain, based on its belief in the importance of partnership between the private sector and sports institutions and its role in serving the community and enhancing Bahrain’s position on the sports scene.
Around 100 golfers from around the world are expected to compete in this year’s event, which is a 54-hole individual stroke play tournament with gross and net divisions.
A cut will be made after 36 holes for the leading 45 gross scores and ties.
Results will count towards the World Amateur Golf Rankings.
The champion will receive a direct qualification card to compete in this year’s King Hamad Trophy, to be held in November.
